Services for Ruth Thompson, 80 of Monroe will be held at 10:00AM Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Mangham Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Aultman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Cherry Cemetery west of Mangham under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home-Rayville.Ms. Ruth Matthews Thompson was born September 26, 1934 in the Elmwood Community near Lake Providence, LA. She went to be with the Lord on Sunday September 28, 2014. Ms. Thompson was a homemaker, devoted Christian and loving mother, and grandmother. While living in the Monticello area, she was an active member of Elmwood Baptist Church. She lived at Frances Tower for approximately 18 years before moving to St Josephs Nursing Home. In her later years, it was not unusual to see her reading her bible or listening to Christian music. Ms. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents-Harrison Abel Matthews and Ms. Pearl Ellerbee Matthews; brothers: Lawrence Matthews, James Matthews, Harvey Gene Matthews, Willie John Matthews; sisters, Thelma Hill, Alma Herrington Ball, Marie Bancroft.
