Outdoor Services for Mrs. Ruth Jones Newberry, 91, of Nashville, TN formerly of Monroe, LA, will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 14, 2020 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Rux officiating.
Mrs. Newberry was born February 7, 1929 in Chatham, LA and passed away on December 7, 2020 in Nashville, TN. She was a member of Graceminster Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Newberry was a 1947 graduate of Ouachita Parish High School. She worked for LA Machinery and Bancroft Bag as a receptionist. Mrs. Newberry enjoyed gardening, watching sports, especially LSU Tigers, going to the “boats”, Pokeno, dominos, shopping, traveling, volunteering at the North Monroe Hospital Gift Shop, but most of all spending time and keeping in touch with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lottie Pankey Jones; husband, Charles K. Newberry; siblings, Morriece H. Jones, James D. Jones, Joseph Murphy Jones, Walter H. Jones Jr, Roy Howard Jones, and Lillian Stone.
Survivors include her three children, Cheryl LaDart, Patricia Kellogg, and Joseph D. “JD” LaDart Jr (Marilyn); five grandchildren, Caroline Humphries (David), Clayton Kellogg (Jessica), Ben Kellogg (Tricia), Elizabeth Snelling, and Kelley Clarke (Tim); eight great-grandchildren, Dylan Humphries, Daniel Humphries, Jake Kellogg, Sage Kellogg, Sam Kellogg, Ethan Clarke, Ava Clarke, and Alexander Cadena; sister, Frances Sparks (James D); sisters-in-law, Betty Jones and Anne Jones; son-in-law, Bill Kellogg; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
Memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the people who looked after Ruth in Monroe and Nashville, especially the staff of Elmcroft of Brentwood.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Monday, December 14, 2020, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe.
