Ruth Roberts Frank Berlin went to be with her Saviour on Friday, November 11, 2022. She loved her Lord, family, friends, dancing, and playing the piano. No doubt a party was held in heaven shortly after she arrived.
A Celebration of life will be held at 3:30 PM, Thursday, November 17, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 300 McMillan Road, West Monroe, LA, with Reverend Rick Crandall presiding. Visitation will be from
1:30 - 3:30 PM, prior to the service. Burial will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 18, in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, LA. A reception will follow at the Greenwood United Methodist Church.
Ruth was born in Vernon, TX and grew up in Greenwood, LA. She graduated from Greenwood High School, earned a bachelor's degree from Louisiana Tech, Ruston, LA and a master's degree and 30 hours beyond the master's from Northeast Louisiana State University, Monroe, LA. She taught in New Orleans before moving to Monroe in 1955. She also taught in several Ouachita Parish Schools.
In the Ouachita Parish System, Ruth was an outstanding elementary teacher and trainer of college student interns. For part of her career, as Reading and Math Coordinator for the LA 5th Congressional District Professional Development Center, she conducted in-service training for teachers, and participated in curriculum and test development. Her influence impacted teachers in the entire LA 5th district.
Memberships include McLendon Baptist Church, West Monroe, where she led a children's choir, De Nova Book Club where she served as treasurer and president, Ouachita Retired Teachers Association where she was treasurer for 7 years, District 10 Retired Teachers Association where she was treasurer for 4 years. Ruth enjoyed political involvement and worked in several campaigns.
She was a talented writer and, in 1995, helped to organize Write Your Memories and was part of the group until 2021. She also enjoyed traveling and attending Elderhostels.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, son-in-law, grandson, and numerous cousins all of whom she loved dearly. Left to cherish her memory are her precious son, Walter J. Frank, III, and daughter, Lillie Anne Frank Inzina.
Pallbearers will be Benny Vaughan, Chuck Vaughan, Kevin Vaughan, Jay White, Wallace "Poo Poo" Poole, and Charles Whitten. Honorary pallbearers will be Marty Jeffery and Jerome Baff.
