Funeral services for Russell Albert Brown, 93, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 20, 2017, in the chapel at Mulhearn Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Washam and ev. Stan Wyant officiating.
Mr. Brown was born August 10, 1922 in Norwich, CT and died Wednesday, January 18, 2017. He was a 1947 graduate of Wentworth School of Architecture in Boston, MA, a 1943 graduate of Navigation School at Selman Field in Monroe, and worked for Ford Bacon and Davis for over 25 years as an Architectural Designer. Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII in the European theater. He completed over 40 missions as Navigator – Bombardier on B17 bombers before being shot down over Germany in 1944. He spent the last 11 months of war in a German POW camp. Mr. Brown was a lifelong member of College Place Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Chennault Aviation Museum in Monroe.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife of over 58 years, Edith C. Brown.
Survivors include his children, Rusty Brown and wife Debbie, and Martha J. Brown; grandchildren, Jennifer Brown, Jamie Brown, Julie Durham and husband Mark; and a great granddaughter, Emma Alexander.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM until service time Friday.
