Graveside Services for Mr. Roy Edward Bennett, 80, of Downsville, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 7, 2016 in the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery Choudrant, LA with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.Mr. Bennett was born on March 7, 1936 and passed away on August 4, 2016 in West Monroe, LA. Mr. Bennett served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from Graphic Packaging with over 40 years of service. He loved his family and also was a big animal lover. Mr. Bennett is preceded in death by his wife, Nelda Louise Jiles Bennett; daughter, Katherine Ann Ates; and grandson, Brandon Roy Ates.Survivors include his daughters, Connie Taylor and husband, Joey and Debra Tolbird and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Shane Ates and wife, Anna, Shannon Taylor and husband, Adam, Roy Ates, and Katelyn Taylor; great grandchildren, Taylor Martin, Dustin Ates, Dakota James MacKenzie, Ethan Ates, Abigail Ates, Avery Ates and Shane Harper Ates.Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, M.D. Anderson Medical Center or the Alzheimer’s Association.The family would like to give a special thank you to all of Mr. Bennett’s Physicians, Nurses and Aides that took such good care of him during his illness.
