Funeral services celebrating the life of Rosco B. Jones, 87, of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 12, 2018, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Dr. Tim Neustifter officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA. The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 10:00 AM until service time Saturday.
Mr. Jones died Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Jones was born in Kewanee, IL, May 12, 1930, to Rosco B. and Grace Edna (Holmes) Jones, Sr. His father worked in the construction industry and the family lived in several places in the south before Rosco graduated from Sulphur High School in Sulphur, LA. He went on to attend McNeese State Junior College and Southwest Louisiana Institute (now University of Louisiana-Lafayette) where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1952.
Upon graduation, he married the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Clara Jane Long. He then began a 40-year career with General Electric, interrupted only by a two-year stint in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict serving in Aberdeen, MD with the ordinance division. After working in Schenectady, NY, Roanoke, VA, and Cincinnati, OH (where he later received his MBA in Business Management from Xavier University). Rosco transferred to Monroe in 1962 where he spent the rest of his career selling industrial equipment to the paper mill industry.
Rosco was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where he was an active member of United Methodist Men, chaired the construction committee for the 1993 expansion of the church, and served on many boards and committees. He volunteered with Christian Community Ministries, Scout liaison of Boy Scout Troop 231, member of the North La Camera Club, and was an active RV camper with the National United Methodist campers.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Clara Jane (Long) Jones; daughters, Jacquelyn Marie Hendrick and husband Robert, and Barbara Jane Luce; son, William Rosco Jones and his wife Sarah; sister, Una Ethel Jones Englehart; 4 grandchildren, Walter Ryan Hendrick, Charles Matthew Luce and wife Jessie, Stephen Ross Hendrick, and Emily Ann Jones; great-grandchildren, Cooper Matthew Luce and soon arrival of Parker Eric Luce of Camden, AR; and nephews, Keith Englehart and wife Rose, and Nicky Englehart.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Luce, Walter Hendrick, Stephen Hendrick, Mike Gibons, Jim Cuthbert, and Joey Bayles. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sidney Seegers, Joe Hoover, Don Durham, and Bob Oehmichen.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA and the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, LA.
