Funeral services for Mr. Ronald Joseph (Ronnie/R.J.) Duffey ,76, of Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 1, 2025, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd, with Pastor Richie Kelly officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ronald J. Duffey (Ronnie/R.J.). Ronnie passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 6:20PM.

Ronnie was born on June 3, 1948, in Monroe, LA, to T.A. and Wilma Kelly Duffey. He was part of the first graduating class of 1968 at Wossman High School. While attending there he met the love of his life Sharon Welch. In November of 1968 they married and spent the next 56 years together. Ronnie enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on January 14, 1969. He served until January 13, 1975. He then went to work for Ma Bell/Bellsouth/AT&T. He retired on July 30, 2003. Ronnie was a lifelong member of Victory Baptist Church in Monroe, LA. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Ronnie loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Ronnie was preceded in death by parents, T.A. and Wilma Duffey; sister, Paula Wilson; and grandson, Jonathon Stovall. 

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Duffey; daughter, Shelly Stovall and husband Steven of Springfield, MO; brother, Robby Duffey and wife Sybil of West Monroe, LA; four grandchildren, Ashley Parks and husband Justin, Alisha Haase and husband Brad, Mallory Weeks and husband Dave, and Steven Stovall II; twelve great grandchildren, Brock, Candice, Jaylynn, Merida, Kiera, Iris, Carlie, Lila, Juvia, Kai, Jeremiah, and A.J.; and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. 

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to a Veterans Charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or to cancer research.
