Funeral services for Mr. Robert W. “Bob” Gebhardt, 90, of Calhoun, LA will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, July 24, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Dennis Anger officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA

Mr. Gebhardt was born in the city of Asuncion, capitol of the Republic of Paraguay, South America, at 10:15 AM on July 22, 1920. He is a naturalized U.S. Citizen as his father was a U.S. Citizen.

His father, John Frederic William Gebhardt was born in Leyden, The Netherlands and became an naturalized Citizen of the U.S. and graduated from New York University with a degree in Civil Engineering. His mother was Enriqueta Melian O’Shanahan, a Uruguayan. His Paternal Grandparents were Bernardo Enrique Gebhardt and Emma Loesener. His Maternal Grandparents were Marcial Melian Chiappi and Virginia O’Shanahan.

Mr. Gebhardt graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, ID in 1939, and received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University on January 27, 1952. His schooling was interrupted by WWII, where he served in the Army Air Corp, serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters. He married Margaret Daphon Broom, from East, TX, on December 4, 1948. He and Margaret Daphon had two children, Sylvia Ann Gebhardt, born October 2, 1949 and Bradley James Gebhardt, born December 6, 1954. Both of his children preceded him in death.
He was employed by Stone and Webster of Boston, MA for 3 years, Floor Corporation of Los Angeles for 12 years and Rocketdyne of Los Angeles a division of North American Aviation for 14 years and retired in 1983. After residing in Los Angeles for 33 years, he and Margaret sold their home and moved to Louisiana and have lived here until this date.

Pallbearers will be C. E. Snyder, Norman Broom, Jr., Jim Broom, Clyde Albritton and Leslie Broom

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time Saturday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
