Visitation for Mr. Robert O. (Bob) Berry, 92, will be held from 2:00PM until 4:00PM Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
The youngest of 6 children, Bob was born in Magee, MS on March 22, 1924 and passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Thames Berry and Ernest Roderic Berry; 4 sisters, Ernestine Emory, Irene Monell, Ann Baxter, and Evelyn Bigham; and 1 brother, James Berry.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Annette Ragland Berry; daughter, Melissa McCarter and husband John; son, Robert Lee Berry and husband Randy; granddaughter, Claire Adams and husband Larry; great-grandson, Noah Wesley McCarter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was in the Army Air Force during WWII, and served in London during the German buzz bombing siege. When he returned to the states, he moved to West Monroe, where he met his future wife, Annette Ragland. They married on June 12, 1948.
He built a career in heating and air conditioning, beginning as an independent contractor, then becoming co-owner of Climate Control, Inc.
For most of his adult life, Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, West Monroe, where he served over the years as usher and on many boards and committees. He was also very active in the West Monroe Civitan Club and the former Highland Park Country Club. Golfing and gardening were his favorite pastimes.
Bob was a kind and generous man, who was always willing to help. He could build almost anything, and repair what was broken. Home and family were his top priorities.
We would like to extend our appreciation to Louisiana Hospice and to the staff of NE Louisiana War Veterans Home for their loving care and support.
