Robert I. (Bob) Mitcham, III

Funeral Services for Bob Mitcham, 79, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:30pm, Sunday, December 30, 2018, at First Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA in Feazel Chapel, with Pastor Dub Hatten officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held the same day from 1:00pm up until the start of the service also in Feazel Chapel.

Bob Mitcham was born October 4, 1939 and passed away December 23, 2018. Born in Bernice, LA and raised in Junction City, AR, he served in the Navy as a navigator on the USS Bache 1963-65. Returning home, he attended Louisiana Tech University at which time he met the love of his life, Joy Humble Mitcham on a blind date. Married August 22,1965, they shared their lives for 53 years. Bob was an avid fisherman, a passion that led him to forming and operating Hook, Line & Sinker, a fishing tackle wholesale distribution company, from 1975-1988. After selling his company, he worked with friends and family to mature their businesses until an accident forced him to retire in 1997.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marian G. Mitcham of Junction City, AR, Robert I. Mitcham, Jr. of Bernice, LA; half-sister, Judy Parish of Minden, LA; aunt and uncle, Maxine and Wayne Mason of Junction City, LA; and cousin, Mark Smith of El Dorado, AR.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his children - son, Mike Mitcham and wife D’Ann; two daughters, Michelle Gregory and husband Craig, and Melanie Markley and husband Richard; grandchildren, Christian and Claire Gregory, Ann-Elise and Caroline Mitcham, Marian, Madyson, Meaghan and Morgan Markley; aunt, Joann Smith; half-sister, Carole Ann Kaplan; cousins, Bill Mitcham, Robert Mitcham, Mary Mitcham Butler, and Laura Ann Smith.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Fordham, Dan Manley, Butch Mason, John Preaus, James Shelton, and Ronnie Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Cater, David Jones, Ray Jones, and Bob Willsher.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: West Monroe Primitive Baptist Church, 585 LA-546, West Monroe, LA 71292 or the Wounded Warrior Project.
