Robert Bridges

Memorial services for Robert Bridges, 71, of Start, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2019, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bridges was born June 18, 1947, in Archibald, LA, and passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, at Merit Health Central in Jackson, MS. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. Mr. Bridges was an avid fisherman and loved nature. He was a very loving papaw, always giving, and never said no to anyone. Every weekend for 30 years was spent with a grandchild. He always put family first.

Mr. Bridges was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Bridges and Lela Mae Lowery Conley; brother, Charles Bridges; and sister, Judy Darvy.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Bridges; children, Matt Dumas and wife Melissa, Tanya Willis and husband Terry, Stephanie Johnson and husband Neil, and Joe Dumas, Jr. and wife Felicia; grandchildren, Carl, Chelsea, Tiffany, Courtney, Ryan, Cierra, Chris, Tyler, Mikayla, Kaylee, Katie, Lindsay, Christopher, Joe Joe, and Jaxson; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Ray Copeland; twin brother, Richard Bridges; sisters, Joyce Cason, Carolyn Boatright, and Marilyn Primm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
