Robert Blackwelder

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Blackwelder, 69, of Columbia, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Palestine Baptist Church in Vixen, LA, with Pastor Hudey Beauboeuf officiating. Interment will follow in Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.

Mr. Blackwelder was born October 30, 1949, in Ruston, LA and passed away on December 20, 2018, in Monroe, LA, after a lengthy illness.

Robert retired as a sheet metal worker in the Ruston area. He was a member of Palestine Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Robert was preceded in death by his dad, Oran Drexel Blackwelder; his mother, Marie Jones Blackwelder; son, Robert Oran Blackwelder; and sister, Linda Blackwelder Flowers.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gwen Blackwelder; daughter, Courtney Werner and husband Corey; granddaughter, Alaina Whitten, all of Centennial, CO; sisters, Brenda Blackwelder Bailey and Teresa Blackwelder; brothers, Mike Blackwelder and wife Nicky; Eddie Harper, Joel Blackwelder and Philip Blackwelder; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dean DeLancy, Derek DeLancy, Mike Pollard, Steve DeLancy, Stan DeLancy and Jacob DeLancy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy McElduff and Leon Currington.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Palestine Baptist Church in Vixen, LA.
