Roana Denise Garcia

May 29, 1955 — February 23, 2020

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help, my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth”
Psalms 121:1-2

Mrs. Roana Denise Garcia was one of seven children born to Frank and Lillie Mae Clark on May 29, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mrs. Garcia passed away peacefully on February 23, 2020, at her home in Monroe, Louisiana.

Mrs. Garcia was a longtime resident of New Orleans, Louisiana prior to Hurricane Katrina. Monroe became her home, and Tabernacle Baptist Church became her family. She enjoyed coloring at the Senior Center where she sold several of her pieces. When she was diagnosed with cancer, she was asked would she be returning to New Orleans, and she replied no. Monroe was her home and Tabernacle was her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lillie Mae Clark; and sibling, James Clark.

She leaves to cherish her memories with one daughter, Kareem Knoten of New Orleans, LA; one son, Larry Knoten (Deneen) of California; and four grandchildren, Madison Hitzke, Olivia, Roanna, and Naomi Knoten of California.

Roana is also survived by her two sisters, Carlette Clark and Florence Clark; and three brothers, Stanley Clark, Rodney Clark, and Frank Clark, Jr. She leaves a devoted friend, Cynthia Byrd, a dear friend, Deborah Ratcliff, and host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.

“God saw her getting tired and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around her and whispered, “Come to me.”

With tearful eyes we watched her suffer, and saw her slowly fade away. Although, we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands put to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
