Ricky Don Wheelis

Funeral services celebrating the life of Ricky Don Wheelis, 67, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 12:00 P.M., Monday, November 11, 2024 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Brother Chad Ballard officiating. Interment will follow immediately after in Rutledge Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.

Mr. Wheelis was born in Monroe, Louisiana on June 15, 1957 and passed away peacefully in his home in West Monroe, Louisiana on November 8, 2024.

Don was a father, son, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He loved to travel especially to Tennessee. He was so proud of his boys, Phillip, Patrick, and Adam. Don loved his family fiercely, especially his grandchildren. He loved his daughter-in-law’s who called him “Willard”.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gail Wheelis; paternal grandparents, Harry and Hazel Wheelis; and maternal grandparents, Alfred and Mattie Lee Rutledge.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-eight years, Carolyn Wheelis; father, David Wheelis; Sons, Phillip Wheelis and his wife, Lyndy, Patrick Wheelis and his wife, Amanda, and Adam Wheelis and his wife, Kalah; grandchildren, Blake Wheelis and his wife, Breanna, Alaina, Peyton, Christian, Anna Kay, Hayden, Kensley, Presley, Averley, Camden, and Kendall; great grandkids, Emerson, Everleigh, and two more on the way; siblings, Mike Wheelis and wife, Janice and Sheri Lindsey and husband, Todd; and numerous other loved ones. 

Pallbearers will be Blake Wheelis, Christian Wheelis, Peyton Wheelis, Hayden Wheelis, Chance Vallery, and Cody Warner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Collins, Jesse Mills, Ben Lowe, Oliver Vallery, John Mills, and Randi McManus.
