A funeral mass for Richard P. “Pat” Curtin, 90, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Monroe, with Rev. Job Edathinatt officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation with be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, October 29, 2018, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, with a vigil wake at 6:00 PM.
Mr. Curtin went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2018, with his family at his side. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Zephie Mae Curtin; parents, Pat and Nettie Curtin; brother, Robert Marcus Curtin; grandson, Nicholas Thompson; and great grandson, Mason Thompson, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Noreen Stephens and her husband Keith; daughter, Rebecca Curtin; grandchildren, Patrick Stephens, Misty Stephens Boone and her husband Erich, Emily Thompson and Shane Young, Mason Thompson, Carly Welker and her husband Brian, and Robin McDonald and her husband Joel; great grandchildren, Nathan Stephens, Wesley Alford, Braeden Stephens, Brooklyn Thompson, Kennedy Thompson, Mercedes Cain, Makayla Phillips, Malachi Welker, Wren McDonald; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mr. Curtin was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Woodmen of the World. He was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean War, having served with the Navy.
He served tirelessly for his church, well into his eighties, teaching CCD classed to the children and RCIA classes to those choosing to join the Catholic Church.
He truly demonstrated what it was to be Christ-like, extending a hand to help with a smile on his face, and a warm heart that radiated love. His natural demeanor caused you to feel loved even if you only crossed his path for a few minutes.
The family would like to thank those that have shown him kindness during his time of need, Premier Hospice, especially his hospice nurse, Rhonda Milstead, his nurse Patti Jones, for their excellent care and friendship.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Stephens, Mason Thompson, Shane Young, Brian Welker, Wesley Alford, and Erich Boone.
