Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Mr. Richard Leo James, 74, of Eros, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 5, 2021, at First United Methodist Church West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Lamar Oliver officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Mr. James was born on October 21, 1946, in Brazil, IN and passed away suddenly at his residence in Eros, LA on September 1, 2021. Richard was a Chemical Engineer with Dow-Angus Chemical Company. Mr. James was very active in the Masonic Lodge serving in many different positions. Some of those include Past Master and Treasurer of Robert W. Cretney Lodge No. 420, Sterlington, LA, Grand High Priest, Grand Chapter of Louisiana 2011-2012, Perpetual Member Monroe Scottish Rites Bodies, Inspector General Honorary, 33rd Degree of Scottish Rite Freemasonry, 2013, Prior of the Knights of the York Cross of Honor, 2008-2009, Louisiana Priory No 43, Grand Governor, Louisiana York Rite College No.99, 2013-2016, and Intendant General, Louisiana, United Grand Imperial Council, Red Cross of Constantine 2013- to present, as well as many other accomplishments.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Emeline Avery James.
Survivors include his wife, Janice G. James; sons, Richard Katz-James and Jimmy A. James; daughter, Heather K. James; stepson, Bradley D. Hawkins; six grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Coombs and husband, Alan; and brother, Rod James and wife, Darlene.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
