Graveside services for Richard Dale Johnstone, 63, of Huttig, Arkansas, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Harper Springs Cemetery in Huttig, Arkansas, with Pastor Johnny Johnstone and Pastor Terry Cole officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Richard was passed away after a brief illness on September 7, 2020.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J. E. Johnstone (Snake), and Bettye Johnstone; sister, Marsha Branning; nephew, Christopher Oliver; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Judy and Billy Oliver; Father-in-law, Fulton Lum, Sr.; and niece, Patricia Lum.
Richard worked as a millwright at the West Fraser Papermill for many years. He could run just about any machine they put him on and was a talented machinist, and welder. Richard was also a very talented wood worker. He loved fishing in his spare time and was an avid gunman. He was known most for his life stories he loved to share with his loved ones. He will be forever remembered as the “Life of the Party”, always making others laugh. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Lum Johnstone, of forty years; brother, David Johnstone and wife, Sarah; sisters, Betty Jo McVay and husband, Don, and Jo Ann Brantley and husband, Jimmy; mother-in-law, Ruth Lum; brother and sister in-laws, Carter and Janice Dupree, Karen and Karl, Graves, Jimmy and Janette Lum; Brother -in-laws; Fulton Lum, Jr., and Dewayne Lum; nieces, Rhonda Horne ( Harvey) and their children, Caney, and Joseph, Amanda Peadon ( Daniel) and their children, Jacob and Caleb, Misty Cook and daughter, Zayleigh, Stephanie Posey, Misty McKinnie, Anita Rice, Rachel Lum, and Tara Lum; nephews, Brian Johnstone (Kari), Blake Johnstone ( Madelyn) and their children, Rylee, Reese, and River, Justin Cook (Laura) and their child, Wesley; Aunt, Patricia Gayle Wilkerson; brother in law, Gordon Branning (Marsha), and their children, Logan Johnstone, and Brittany Branning, Justin McKinnie, Robert Dupree, Douglas Graves, Jonathan Graves, Keith Oliver, Brandon Lum, Joshua Lum, Dylan Lum, and Adam Lum.
