Rex Dale Dillingham, Sr.
Memorial service for Mr. Rex Dale Dillingham, Sr. will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday, February 26, 2014, in the chapel of North Monroe Baptist Church with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.
Rex Dale Dillingham, Sr. died on February 23, 2014, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe due to complications in his battle with cancer.
Rex was 77 years old and he leaves behind six children, two sons, Rex Dillingham, Jr. and Mark Dillingham; four daughters, Joy Ardis and Lee Tharp; Rhonda Kauffman and husband Deuce; Kim Burtram and husband Brad; Nita Woods and husband Kevin; fifteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ouida Dillingham; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Myrtle Mae Dillingham (Wallis); two brothers, Bob Dillingham and Max Dillingham; sister, Nita Nelle Dillingham; and niece, Rita Leonard.
Rex was born in 1936 in Wichita Falls, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Monroe. Rex was a graduate of Neville High School and Northeast Louisiana State College.
Early in his career, Rex worked with his family in the optical business. An avid SCUBA diver, he was drawn to the water. In 1966, he started Dillingham Marine Divers, Inc. where he worked for many years alongside his two sons, and nephew, Ben Dillingham.
Visitation will be from 9:00AM until service time in the chapel at North Monroe Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
