Funeral Services for Rev. William A. "Dub" Massey, Jr., 80, of Calhoun, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Calhoun, LA with Rev. Oda "Tuck" Roberts, Rev. Neil Everette, and Rev. Bobby Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
Rev. Massey was born on May 23, 1929 and passed away in LittleRock, AR on December 28, 2009, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie J. Massey; step-grandson, David Pipes; and great-grandson, Jake Raborn. Rev. Massey loved to preach the word of God and dedicated his life to serving the Lord, with 58 years in the Ministry. He was a member of the Masons, the High 12 club, and many other organizations and volunteered for RSVP. He served 28 years as chaplain at Swanson's Youth Center. He also served as pastor at churches in Kelly, Urania, Dodson, Monroe, and several other churches in the surrounding area. Prior to his death, he was serving as Senior Adult Pastor at First Baptist Church of Calhoun.
Survivors include his wife, Shelia Wyatt Massey; sons, Larry W. Massey and wife Rita and John K. Massey and wife Penny; step-children, Susan Wyatt, Kelly Ramsey and husband Warren, Stephanie Nance, and Steve Wyatt, III and wife Davina; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, B.A. Massey, Joe Massey, Ruby Swanson, and Frances Whitney..
Pallbearers will be Richard Crawford, John Paul Rieger, Ray Walters, Randy Wilbanks, Harley Frazier and Bobby Graves. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons, the Kingsmen Sunday School Class, Calhoun Country Gospel Band, Scott Bond, Don Roberts, Calton Yeager, Bob Holloway, and other fellow Ministers.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Calhoun, LA.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Calhoun Building Fund or to the Gideons.
