Raymond Melvin Swanson, Jr.

Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Mr. Raymond Melvin Swanson, Jr., 39, of Monroe, LA, will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Lea Joyner Methodist Church with Rev. Ben McGehee and Michael Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe. 

Raymond was born October 30, 1984, and passed away on September 5, 2024 after a lengthy illness. He was a member of Lea Joyner Methodist Church. Raymond was an adventurer who loved living in the country, loved nature, exploring and going on long hikes. 

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, J. T. Lee, Jim and Frances Swanson; cousin, Laurie Matthews; and great-aunt, Elsie McCaleb.

Survivors include his parents, Ray and Betty Swanson; two sisters, Emilee Hancock and husband Roger, Amanda Swanson; nephew, Cody Dale Hancock; beloved mamaw, Teddy Lee; uncles and aunts, Jay Lee and wife Robin, Linda “Lin Lin” Lee, Nancy Villar and husband, Damon, Peggy Matthews and husband, Richard, Jimmie Swanson and wife, Patty, Mary Ann Hawkins and husband, Mickey; as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Josh Hodge, Jake Lee, Clay Hawkins, J.C. McKay, Mack Dampier, and Mickey Hawkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Robinson, Dennis Bell, David Key, Keith Welch, and Sonny McKay.

Memorials may be made to Lea Joyner Methodist Church, National Kidney Foundation, or to the charity of your choice. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to our church family, Lea Joyner Methodist Church, Dr. Michael Hand, nurse, Georgia, Northeast Louisiana Kidney Specialists, St. Francis 6th floor ICU staff, Ochsner’s New Orleans 7th floor ICU doctors and nurses.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.
