Raymond H. Tyler was born June 28, 1924 and passed away April 30, 2010.
He graduated from Granite City, IL High School where he won all district in football with a scholarship to the University of Missouri. He was drafted after a year and served with the 410th Co. A Infantry WWII division was wounded in France and received the Purple Heart. While waiting to return home he played football with the Army and the sports castor Jack Buck was their water boy.
Mr. Tyler went back to the University of Missouri after the war and received a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for National Steel and did the concrete testing on the New York Twin Towers and the Poplar St. Bridge in St. Louis. He later worked at Dittco in Monroe, then Warnock Herschey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Gertrude Tyler; and son, John Patrick Tyler.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Tyler; sister, Marcella Pilcher; and grandchildren, Troy Tyler, Erin Himmelspach, and Sean Patrick Tyler.
