Raymond Goodman "Ray" Christian

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Raymond Goodman Christian, 77, of Baton Rouge, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 13, 2025, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Rayville, LA with Rev. Justin Clark officiating. Interment will follow at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, LA.

Ray was born on April 18, 1947, in Monroe, LA and died in Baton Rouge, LA on January 5, 2025. He was raised in Rayville, LA until he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ray received his Honorable Discharge from the Marines in 1976, and continued his service with the U.S. Coast Guard. During his working career, Ray served as a prison guard at Angola Penitentiary, a game warden for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and eventually retired from state employment as a supervisor for the Louisiana Department of Health.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Jean Eddins Christian. 

Survivors include his sister, Carol Christian Sorey (Danny), nephews, Dan Sorey (Julie), Doug Sorey (LeeAnn), great niece and nephews, Jessica Sorey Taylor (Codey), Jonathan Sorey and Parker Sorey, two great-great-nieces, Eliza Jean Taylor and Olivia Grace Taylor, and his aunt, Charlotte Ann Sims; cousins, Eddy Sims (Robert Bernard), Ann Sims Fields (Mark), and Tommy Sims (Kathy).

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Monday, January 13, 2025, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
