Funeral Services celebrating the life of  Ray Edward Hebert, 80, of West Monroe, LA will be held 11:00 AM Friday June 3, 2011 at the McGuire United Methodist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Michi Head, Rev. Chris McLain and Rev. David Dietzel officiating. Interment will be in Hebert Cemetery in Hebert, LA. under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Ray died peacefully at his home with his wife by his side on May 30, 2011.

Ray was a faithful member of the McGuire United Methodist Church, where he served in numerous positions. He strived to share his Christian faith and sweet spirit with anyone he came in contact with. Graduating from Columbia High School, he began his first employment with Brown Paper Mill, later with Missouri Pacific Railroad. In 1955, Ray began his career with the United States Postal Service retiring after 35 years of service. One year after his retirement, he joined the postal staff at ULM until his retirement once again in 2010.

 In earlier years, he was very active in West Monroe Dixie Youth Baseball, as a coach and as a member of the Executive Board. He enjoyed seeing the young men he coached become outstanding men in our community. Ray was very dedicated for many years in his masonry work. He was a Master Mason and 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason; he served as Worshipful Master of the J. C. Stewart Lodge, Columbia Lodge and was an honorary member of the West Monroe #419 Lodge for his years of service.

In 1949, Ray married Lydia Louise Woodruff and enjoyed their life together with their three son’s until “Katie’s” death in 1983. In June of 1984, Ray and Kathie Waller Kees began their blended family with Ray’s sons and Kathie’s daughter and son; they were blessed with 26 years of marriage.                         

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry L. and Lillie B. Hebert; brothers, H. Morell Hebert, James L. Hebert, and O. C. Hebert, sister, Annie Mildred Hebert, and his son, Henry William Hebert.

Survivors include his wife, Kathie Waller Kees Hebert, children, Ray E. Hebert, Jr. and wife, Rubette, Mark D. Hebert, Kristie Kees McGee and husband, Greg, and Joel M. Kees and wife, Jessica; Grandchildren, Michelle Hebert Counts and husband, Mark, Justin Ray Hebert and wife, Jen, Matthew David Hebert, Kaleb Eugene McGee, Kenzie Rose McGee, Lily Lynn Kees; Great-Grandchildren, Jed Alan Counts, Olivia Grace Counts, Daxton Grey Counts; Sister, Mrs. Eloise Hebert Shields, and numerous nieces and nephews and his dearest friends, C. B. “Buddy” and Jean Griggs.

Pallbearers will be Mike Shields, Fred Shields, Dale Shields, Alan Shields, Chad Shields and Andrew Shields.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.

Memorials may be made to the McGuire United Methodist Church Building Fund, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the charity of your choice.
