Rachel Ann Williams Day, 81, passed away peacefully in her home on June 12, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in West Monroe, LA on July 27, 1936, Rachel worked at News Star World for 12 years, as an office manager for attorney Paul Kidd and as a contractor with her husband at South Central Bell.
Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Megan Jackson; and siblings, Earl Williams, Jr., Kathelene Platt, Aletha Platt, and Frances Gryder.
Survivors include husband, Gene Douglas Day; children, Danny Day, Rachel Gayla Day Gambino, Terry Day and spouse Tracy, Tracy Cubbit and spouse Joe, Candy Holley and spouse Tim, and Rob Day; grandchildren, Jenny Welch, Morgan Day and spouse Ashley, Kelly Godfrey and spouse Beau, Meagan Day, Nicholas Gambino, Savannah Day and partner Austin Marble, Sebastian Day, Melissa Holley, Timothy Holley; great-grandchildren, Braylon Byrd, Addie Grace Day, Abagail Day, Austin Day, Aaron Payne, Ashton Payne, Avery Payne, Alona Day, Iris Ann Marble, Avery Holley, CJ Futch, and Asher Holley; siblings, Billy and Beth Williams, Tommy and Pat Williams, and Betty and Troy Branch.
Rachel was devoted to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and raised her own children and many others with a loving hand and a big heart. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball, fishing, studying her Bible, gardening, reading, writing and spending time with her large family. She loved tomato sandwiches, cornbread dressing, and good night prayers. We love you, Nana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Paron Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Cocker and Rev. Austin Rinehart officiating. Interment will follow at Ouachita City Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Morgan Day, Nicholas Gambino, Justin Day, Phillip Day, Robert Day, Ted Griffin, Doug Underwood and Johnny Day.
