Phyllis Asbury Flannigan, at the age of the 86 years young in Monroe LA, passed away on July 1, 2017 from complications from dementia. The funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 2308 Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA.
Ricky Baker, Chaplain of Louisiana Hospice, will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM until 5:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home prior to the service.
Phyllis was born on June 21, 1931 in Duluth, MN. She had one brother and four sisters, all who preceded her in death. She was the mother of 8 children, 4 of which preceded her in death- Nancy Edstrom (Ted), Allen Roehl, Lea D. Flannigan and Ricky Flannigan.
Her four daughters; LuAnn Scarborough (Kenneth), LaVonne (Dolly) Keller, Laurie Correro (Russell) and Tracey Jones, were at her bedside and will forever miss her. Phyllis was also a wonderful grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmothers to Kenny Scarborough (Melissa), Brittney, Brandy and Kevin, Mike Scarbrough (Teresa), Shane, Crystal and Troy, Tina Mauterer (Jason), many 3 and 4 legged children, Kellie Mauterer-Hall (Jeremy){Rory and Owen}, Kayla Oliver (Joshua) {Parker and unborn child Logan}, Alexis Ricaud, Jennifer Perez (Jr.) {Christina, g-g-Jayden, Dante and Daylin}, Joshua Roark, Katie Roark and Nathan Jones, Chris Flannigan, Erika Flannigan {James, Edmund and Beto}, Angel Batiste (Deon) {Serenity and Sebastian}.She is also survived by many friends and relatives whom she loved very much; Alfred Ryder and his family were close to her heart but most of all her beloved cat Teddy.
She enjoyed sewing her entire life and watching the Gameshow Network and Dancing with the Stars, especially Derek Hough and the Saints and Drew Brees.
Phyllis spent her final months at Avalon Place in Monroe LA. We want to thank all the wonderful staff for all the help and support given during this final stage of her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Ouachita Humane Society in West Monroe.
