Funeral services for Mrs. Petrina Margaret Marsala, 79, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 30, 2008, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Msgr. Edmund Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Marsala passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, an avid bowler, loved sewing, quilting, and reading. She was retired from Bancroft Bag in West Monroe.
Mrs. Marsala was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Marie Sauro Alfano; two brothers, Tommy and Joe Alfano; and two sisters, Josephine Alfano and Elizabeth Tecetta.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Joseph A. Marsala; brothers, Frank Alfano and wife Sara Ann, Alfanso “Bubby” Alfano and wife Dorothy, and sister-in-law, Carmelina Alfano, all of Birmingham, AL; sons, Joseph Marsala, Jr of Ruston, Frank J. Marsala of West Monroe, Paul Marsala of West Monroe, Charles Marsala of Cartersville, GA, and Vincent Marsala of West Monroe; daughters, Mary Hern of Monroe, Tina Murphy of Marion, AR, Patricia Reeves of Monroe, and Joanne Griffin of Montgomery, AL; twenty grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Keith Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Danny Reeves, Jr., Richard Reeves, Michael Reeves, Joey Marsala, Frank Marsala, Jr., and Christopher Hern.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and a Vigil Wake Service at 6:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
