Peter D. "Pete" Kovata

Funeral Services for Mr. Peter D. “Pete” Kovata, 92, of Monroe, LA, will be 2:00 PM Saturday, September 23, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe with Fr. Eudokimos-Martin Harding officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Pete was born July 23, 1931, and passed away on September 20, 2023. He immigrated to the United States in 1960 and returned to Macedonia in 1961 to marry his bride, Maria Naumova. They both came back to the United States in 1961. Mr. Pete opened City Coney Island in 1960 on Desiard Street and retired in 1996.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dimeter and Haria Padori Kovata; brother, Tase Kovata; sister, Elena Kovata; and son, James “Jimmy” Kovata.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Maria Naumova Kovata; daughter, Jenny Armstrong and husband Peter; as well as nieces and numerous friends.

Pallbearers will be Peter Armstrong, Andrian Antis, Bill Antis, Tom Crazovich, John Dimos, and Gus Antis.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Angela Jacobson and family for always being there and taking care of him.

Memorials may be made to Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, September 22, 2023, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe.
