Pete Corrent, 87 of West Monroe, Louisiana, passed away at his home on August 29, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Pete was a tough but also loving and generous soul who cherished the family and friends he shared his life with. One of the most sharp-witted people you would ever know, Pete constantly entertained people with his stories and bone-dry sense of humor. He spent many years living in New Orleans where he owned several businesses including a restaurant still open today. In his later years, Pete enjoyed watching sports and playing in weekly card games with friends. He also took great pride in his home on the Ouachita River where he and his wife Barbara enjoyed the beautiful views from their back porch. He will be missed by all lucky enough to have known him.
Pete is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Krista Corrent, his parents, Sam and Lena Corrent, and his two brothers, Sam (wife Beverly) and A.J. (wife JoAnne) Corrent.
He will be sadly missed by his dedicated and loving wife, Barbara; daughters, Anna Lynn Oliver and Pam Corder (husband Phil); sister, Patricia Harper (late husband James); sister-in-law, Sherry Wood; brothers-in-law, Larry Wood (wife Ginger), Freddie Wood (wife Doris), and Todd Wood; grandchildren, McVea Oliver, Blake Oliver, and Kindra Neitz (husband Eddie); and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Pete's strict instructions were that in lieu of a traditional funeral for all to celebrate his life. To happily honor this request, family and invited friends will gather Thursday afternoon to toast and remember him.
"Life is what you celebrate. All of it. Even its end."
