Peggy Ruth Simmons Swayze went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 3, 2023, following a brief illness.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Frank Allen Swayze; parents, Joseph and Hattie Simmons; and one sister, JoAnn Carter.
She is survived by two daughters, Cyndi Swayze and Connie Swayze Davis (Mike Davis); one granddaughter, Kelsey Swayze Davis; and one grandson, Zach Davis. She is also survived by one sister, Gail Nienheis, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
Peggy loved her children, grandchildren, and friends more than life itself and would have given her right arm to any of them at a moment’s notice.
Peggy was a member of First Methodist Church of Monroe.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Mulhearn Funeral Home located at 2308 Sterlington Road, Monroe, Louisiana. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 6, 2023, at First Methodist Church located at 3900 Loop Road in Monroe, Louisiana, with Rev. Brian Mercer officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, Louisiana under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA.
Pallbearers will be Keith Cromwell, Ronnie Swayze, Robert Swayze, Maxie Swayze, Eddie Stewart and John Preus. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Robinson, Ricky Ellington, Lloyd Sivils, Bill Lee and Bill Lee, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Methodist Children’s Home, Samaritan’s Purse and Tunnel 2 Towers.
