Funeral Mass for Mrs. Peggy R. Semmes, 94, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 12, 2018, at St. Paschal’s Catholic Church in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Job Edathinatt officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Semmes was born July 16, 1923, in Houma, LA, and passed away January 8, 2018, in Monroe, LA. She loved and served the Lord to the fullest through her Catholic Faith. Praying for each family member was a daily ritual and she loved spending time with them. Her husband, Bob Semmes, Jr., was the love of her life for 62 years before his death.
She was one of the founding members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She served as a member of the Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister, worked at the St. Joseph Altar, and started a soup kitchen at St. Joseph which continued to grow across the Twin Cities.
Peggy was known to many as the “Tupperware Lady”. She sold Tupperware for approximately 25 years, and at one time, achieved an award for being in the Top 10 Salespersons in the United States.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. “Bob” Semmes, Jr.; 12 brothers and sisters; and granddaughter, Amy Fontana.
Survivors include her children: Bernardine Semmes Adams (Jerry), Robert Keith Semmes, III (Mona), John Gregory Semmes (Marcia), Mary Semmes Kiethley (Alex), and Jeff Semmes (Monica); 10 grandchildren: Tiffany Fontana, Heath Fontana, Stacy Amos, Robert K. Semmes, IV, Shannon Guidry, Destin Hardin, Jessica Duran, Jordan Ray, Amber Semmes, Kyle Semmes and Caleb Semmes; 16 great grandchildren; brother: Johnny Rodrigue (Maureen); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Heath Fontana, Bobby Semmes, Kyle Semmes, Caleb Semmes, Patrick Guidry and Dylan Ray.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Alfred Henry Ozenne, Bobby Petrus, Tommy Semmes, Colston Brandon, Mark McConaughey, Dale Cummings, Josh Hardin and Christopher, Nicholas, and Joe Michael Pleasant.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday, January 11, 2018, with a vigil wake at 6:00 P.M., at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
