Mrs. Laffoon was born on June 19, 1952, in Monroe, LA, and passed away on July 15, 2022, in West Monroe, LA.
Patricia McNeely Laffoon, often referred to as Pat, Trisha, Gammie, and Mama, and even Fishy, was a woman full of heart. This was evident in the love she shared with her family and friends. Trish extended her warmth to all those around her. She never met a stranger. Her humble and nurturing soul was treasured by many including Waymond, her doting husband and best friend of 50 years, and her greatest achievement--sons Jason, Stacy, and Shane.
“Mama” was without a doubt Trish’s favorite name to go by. Trish loved her boys BIG. For many, many years her house was filled with the sounds of kids coming and going. She was a second mom to many. The laughter and good times shared with the boys and their friends were worth the trouble they’d get themselves into from time to time! Trish loved it and wouldn’t have had it any other way.
In 2014, Trish received a new name. “Gammie”. Trish delighted in the time she spent with her cherished granddaughters, Olivia, and Emma. Every prized visit to Gammie and Poppy’s house, where there were no rules, created an impenetrable bond built on memories of candies, sherbet, and lots of love. Trish adored her grandbabies, and they loved their GamGam.
A great listener. A thoughtful friend. A provider. Trish would have given her last to anyone who needed it. She always had time to talk and offer advice. You could tell her anything without judgement. She was always there if you needed her, and had a way of making everyone feel special, seen, and loved. Trish cared.
Spending the last three years nurturing her mother, Freddie--“Mawmaw” as she’s known by loved ones--became the one of the highlights of Trish’s life. She relished in the time they’d spend reminiscing, playing games, and enjoying each other. Her loving sister Brenda, “Sue” as she always called her, was much more than a sister to her. She was her best friend. Terry, her little brother always claimed the title of” The Favorite” in the family, which he knew didn’t sit well with her. Still, he loved to remind her of that any chance he got.
From shopping and decorating to girl’s trips and casino nights, Trish knew how to have a good time. She had many varied interests and was an avid “collector” of all things. She was always just a few more items away from having her next rummage sale.
Everyone who knew Trish knows that she was a rarity. A true gem. She had a special connection with all she encountered, and touched many, many lives. She is deeply missed but will live on in each of our hearts forever.
May our sweet Trisha, Mama, and Gammie rest in peace until we see her again.
