Dale was born in Corsicana, TX, on April 15, 1953, but grew up in Monroe, LA. He graduated from Neville High School and continued on to receive a degree from Northeast Louisiana University.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Billie and Frank Walker, Sr.; sister, Carrie Walker; brother, Frank Walker, Jr.; niece, Nina Walker; grandparents, Bessie and Truly Etheredge; and father and mother-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Laws.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lydia Laws Walker; son, Jared Walker and wife Colby; daughter, Whitney Foster and husband David; daughter, Mollie Cline and husband Aaron; grandchildren, Blake, Campbell and Austin Walker and one on the way; Dylan, Anna, Naomi and Frank Foster; Aubrey, Barrett and Charlotte Cline; sister, Becky Ford and husband Keith; sister, Melanie Turner and husband Randy; sister, Lisa Herrock and husband John; sister-in-law, Leslie Fox and husband Danny; sister-in-law, Lauren Laws Johnson and husband Gary; and sister-in-law, Suzie Walker. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dale pastored Pine Grove Church alongside Mickey Humphrey until Mickey’s death in 1996. His ministry spanned 41 years.
Dale had a heart for this community and his love for people started early on. He was an incredible encourager, and he continuously showed people the love of God through his servant’s heart. He was a fierce prayer warrior, and a rock to anyone who called on him in their time of need. To know Dale is to know that he was such a good friend, and his impact will be felt for many years.
Dale’s love for his family was unconditional, abundant, and endless. There really aren’t enough words to describe the vastness of his affection. He taught his children how to walk with God, and he was an example in how to remain faithful even in the darkest hours. He was absolutely delighted by his grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and the prayers he prayed over them will remain on them for the rest of their lives.
His favorite place in the world was sitting on the back porch of the farmhouse in Corsicana, TX. Having his wife, children, and grandchildren with him…and a bonfire burning…made it that much better.
Dale was known for his Irish goodbyes. He’d arrive at a party, say his hellos and before you knew it, he’d disappeared into thin air. He did it to us one more time Thursday night…but maybe he saw a glimpse of heaven and just couldn’t resist his chance to enter those gates.
There is no doubt he heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Honorary Pallbearers are James Jopling, Lawrence Atkins, Greg Andrews, Scotty Dyer, Ike Byrd, Larry Madison, Sam Washington, Steve Heidenreich and J.R. Wells.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pine Grove Church or a ministry of your choice.
