Otis Emmit Wood, Jr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Otis Emmit Wood, Jr., 74, of West Monroe, LA will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 31, 2012 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe.
Mr. Wood was born on October 22, 1937 in Monroe, LA and died on March 29, 2012 in West Monroe, LA. He was member of North Monroe Baptist Church. Mr. Wood owned and operated O.E. Wood and Son Roofing Co. Later a second business, Commercial Industrial Roofing Co. was formed and O.E. soon became one of the top commercial roofing contractors in the south. Mr. Wood was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. O. E. bred and raced thoroughbred horses. He is preceded in death by his parents, O. E. Wood, Sr. and Mattie Bennett Wood; and grandson, Alexander Orozco.
Survivors include: daughters, Carol Holloway and her husband Chip, Connie Orozco; two grandchildren, Daniel Orozco and Skylar Orozco; the mother of his children, Barbara Wood; sisters, Norma Arant (widow of Cecil Arant), Lynda Huggins and her husband James W., Wanda Teel and her husband J.D.; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Pallbearers will be Glen Arant, Layne Arant, Jim Huggins, J. J. Huggins, J. D. Teel, and Ryan Teel. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Paulus, Jack Robison, Joe Cummins, Bennie Heindrich, Ronald Moore, Pete Embanato, Jack Arant, Billy Matlock, Paul Parks, Gary Steele, Frank Steele, and Gary Bullock.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, March 30, 2012 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
