Funeral services for Oscar Brunson (O.B.) Copeland, 100, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Lloyd Nat Barnett officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mr. Copeland passed away Friday, July 28, 2017, at Christus St. Joseph’s Home in Monroe. After his retirement as a conductor from Missouri Pacific Railroad, he and his wonderful wife, Nan, traveled the United States from coast to coast. Mr. Copeland was a member of Wesley Sunday School Class and was “A Real Southern Gentleman”. One of his favorite pastimes was playing dominos with his close friends.
Mr. Copeland was preceded in death by his wife, Nan Floyd Copeland.
Survivors include his 2 children: daughter, Julia Carroll of Grand Prairie, TX; and son, Joe Copeland and wife Missy of North Little Rock, AR; 1 brother, John Ogden Copeland of Flowery Branch, GA; numerous other family and friends; and special friends, Willia Fletcher and Melba Craft.
Pallbearers will be Terry Stockton, Tony Lively, Steve Hopper, Tom Atkins, Herbert Fletcher, and Rick Sain.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.
