Funeral Services for Mrs. Ona Katie Funderburk, 93, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 30, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA with Pastor Tom Lowe of Christ Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Funderburk was born in Mississippi on August 31, 1916, to the late John Thomas Pearcy and Johnnie Jones Pearcy. She died on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Health South in Ruston, LA after a short illness. Katie spent her adult life as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and her husband were active members of the Annie D. Bennett chapter of the Eastern Star in West Monroe, LA. She was a member of Christ Church in West Monroe, LA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert William Funderburk Sr.; by her eldest daughter, Katherine Ann Funderburk McCarter; and all of her siblings.
Survivors include her three sons and two daughters, Robert William Funderburk Jr. and wife, Shirley of MerRouge, LA, Shelby Dean Funderburk and wife, Jo of Calhoun, LA, Jim T. Funderburk and wife, Dona of Farmerville, LA, Vicki Nobles and husband, Mike of Start, LA and Rickie Conerly and husband, Mark of Eros, LA; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. Katie was known by all of her family and friends as “Granny”. She was well known for her talents in cooking and quilting.
Mrs. Funderburk’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Bobby Funderburk, Ed Funderburk, Jim Funderburk, II, D.J. Funderburk, Mickel Nobles, Seth Nobles and Shawn McAdams. Her great grandsons will serve as Honorary Pallbearers
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
