Funeral services for Mrs. Oliece Wilhite Bess, 89, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 19, 2007, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Michi Head officiating. Interment will follow in the Wilhite Cemetery, Downsville.
Mrs. Bess passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007 from heart failure. She was aresident of Monroe, but was formerly of West Monroe. She was a Charter Member of McGuire United Methodist Church. She was a retired bookkeeper from J.C. Penny,co-owner of Monroe Loan & Sporting Goods, and Office Manager for MontgomeryWards from the 1940’s to 1954. Mrs. Bess was a Graduating Senior of La Tech whenWWII began. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Wanda Ann; second husband, E. Carl Bess; brother, Frank Wilhite, King and wife Aline Wilhite; sisters, Fannie Elliott and husband Garland (Doc), Cecil Newman and husband Bill.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Johnston; sister-in-law, Velma Wilhite; andmany nieces and nephews and the Metcham family.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home,300 McMillian Road, West Monroe, LA.
