Memorial services for Olan Carlton Hughes, 90, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben McGehee and Rev. Betty Swanson officiating. Services are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mr. Hughes was born October 20, 1926 and passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church, and a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII. He was a great man of integrity, a hard worker, and loved everybody.
Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his wife Mary Hughes; step daughter, Sherria Henry and husband Jay; and sisters, Mabel Polk and Clara McKoin.
Survivors include his life partner, Nelda Poss; son, Lonnie Hughes and wife Sharon; daughter, Dianne McLemore and husband Freeman; step children, Teresa Lockwood and husband Eddie, Asa Poss and wife Kathy, and Laura Poss; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sisters, Virginia Miller, Mary Ellis, Lorene Parmelee; brother, Leon Hughes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time Saturday at the church.
