The family of Mr. O C Hancock, a resident of Monroe, Louisiana, warmly invites those who knew and loved him to join in a celebration of his life. Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023 at the Mulhearn Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in Monroe, LA. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Ricky Baker officiating.
O C Hancock, cherished for his dedication to his family, service to his country, and commitment to his faith, passed away peacefully at the age of 93, surrounded by his loving family at home. Born in Winfield, Louisiana on December 14, 1929, to James C. and Neoma Hancock, O C was a proud Louisianan who lived his entire life serving his community and loved ones.
Following his enlistment in the Army, he bravely served in the Korean War from 1951 through 1953, earning an Honorable discharge in 1958. O C earned his BS in Accounting from Northeast Louisiana State College in 1956. His professional journey led him to Southwest Gas, where he worked from 1960 to 1972. He then took up the position of Assistant Comptroller at ULM until his retirement in 1985.
O C was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Kay Owens Hancock, his parents, and siblings Curtis Hancock, Lester Hancock, Muriel Dean Hancock Wallace, Bill Hancock, and Billy Ray Hancock. He leaves behind an extensive and loving family, including his children Sharon Hancock Hakim (husband Joseph), Diana Hancock Pahal (husband Mike), and Owen Craig Hancock (special friend Mary Jane Alton); his sister Jean Hancock Stuart; cousin Bonnie Hales; grandchildren Abraham J. Hakim (wife Michal), Louise Hakim Moore (husband Wesley), Kay Hakim Lahasky (husband Jeffrey), Hannah Hakim Jones (husband Alex), Ashley Pahal Chandler (husband Boyd), and John Pahal; 15 great-grandchildren and his niece Tana Trichel. His lifelong friendships with Mac and Ruby Aldridge were testament to his warmth and dedication to those he held dear.
O C was a Master Mason for 66 years and an active Shriner in the El Karubah Temple in Monroe. A man of deep faith found expression at the College Place Baptist Church, and later, at Swartz Baptist Church.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to caregivers Barbara Hamilton, B.J. Haulcy, and Arabia Stephenson for their unwavering care and love over the past seven years.
O C Hancock's passing leaves a void in many hearts. However, his legacy of love, service, and strength will live on, inspiring all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
