Norma Ernestine Townsend Holloway 81, of Monroe, Louisiana went to be with the Lord on Saturday April 8, 2017 at Christus St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. Nonnie, as she was affectionately called by her grands, was born in Delhi, Louisiana July 14, 1935.
Nonnie was an adoring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and her family was her world. She was an inspiration to us all as she taught us how to love and live life gracefully even as her health declined in later years. She greeted everyone with a smile, and never met a stranger or forgot a name or face. She will forever remain in our hearts.
Norma worked for several years as a nurse and a bookkeeper before deciding to stay at home while her three boys were in school. She then went back to work as an administrative assistant at a nursing home until her retirement. For many years, one of Norma’s greatest joys was keeping the babies in the nursery at North Monroe Baptist Church where she was a charter member.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years and love of her life, Charles Adrian Holloway and her brother and sister-in-law Carroll and Betty Townsend, as well as a host of beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Holloway and wife Carol, Gary Holloway and wife Lisa, John Holloway and wife Shelly; grandchildren: Adam, Luke, Michael, Jason, Sarah, Will and Josh; and great- grandchildren: Baylee, Jade, Logan, Gabrielle, Icarus, Azreal, Griffin, Graham, Chance, Charlotte and Cale.
Funeral services celebrating Norma’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday April 11, 2017 at North Monroe Baptist Church Chapel with Reverend Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held Monday April 10, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Sterlington Road.
Pallbearers will be Norma’s grandsons.
Memorials may be made to the North Monroe Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Christus St. Joseph’s Nursing Home for the constant love and care they showed Mrs. Holloway during her many years there.
