Funeral services for Newton Edward Sanson, 84, of Monroe, will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at New Light Baptist Church, Monroe, at 11:00 AM with Brother Lindle Stewart officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.
Newton was born July 1, 1935 and passed away October 18, 2019. He was an employee of Bakers Shoes for 45 years and where he thought of his employees as family. Newton was a long-time member of New Light Baptist Church where he loved to worship his Savior through song. He also served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Cedie Sanson; sisters, Evelyn Rogers, Blanche Guichard, Audean Ducote and Lucille Chevallier; brothers, Nelson Sanson, Jesse Sanson and Bennett Sanson.
Newton is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Mercer Sanson; daughter, Denise Impson and husband, Randy; grandson, Aaron Impson and wife, Jamie; granddaughter, Shelly Williams and husband, Ben; great-grandchildren, Evan, Evelyn, Emarie and Ellie.
Pallbearers will be Carl Parker, Tom Dickens, Mike Moore, Aaron Impson, Ben Williams and David Voght. Honorary pallbearers will be Alvis Arnold, Lloyd Peters and Graydon McQuiston.
