Nelson Charles Goodson, 77, of Heflin, Louisiana, passed away on January 9, 2025, at the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe, LA. He was born August 15, 1947, in Fresno, California.
Nelson served his country in the United States Navy, on the USS Fechteler and on the USS Jamestown, that was a spy ship in Vietnam. He traveled all over the world. Nelson was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.
He was employed with AT&T (Ma Bell) from 1973 until his retirement in 2009. Nelson enjoyed woodworking, pottery, staining glass, and bird watching. He designed blueprints for Blazier Construction, a company his best friend owned and operated. Nelson designed and built a rock crusher as well for Blazier Contraction.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Virginia Nelson Goodson; and son, Brandon Norrell.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Anita Wiggins Goodson; daughter, Margo Gray Holland and husband Derryl; son, Chase Norrell and partner, Kristin Cater; four grandchildren, C Braxton Gray, Olivia Norrell, Levin Tuma, and Nash Stevens; one great-grandson, Tripp Braxton Gray; mother-in-law, Sue Wiggins; numerous brother and sister in laws, as well as nieces, nephews and many special friends.
