Graveside services for Nellie (Nell) Murphrey Shipp, 87, of Bosco, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens in West Monroe. Rev. Joe Odenwald will be officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Shipp was born on July 16, 1922 in Calhoun, LA and passed away on April 28, 2010 at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro, LA. Mrs. Shipp graduated from Calhoun High School and attended LA Tech. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse.
Mrs. Shipp was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Garland A. Shipp; her parents, one brother, and two sisters.
She is survived by her children, Carol Shipp Johnson and husband Lanny, Garland Shipp, Jr., Alan Shipp and wife Pansy, and Pam Shipp Jones and husband J. D. “Smokey”. Her grandchildren are Tom Shipp, Tammy Shipp Johnson and husband Jeff, Tiffany Shipp, Neal Johnson, Jr. and wife Chantay, Taylor Johnson and wife Staci, Cindy Reeves and husband Chris, Virginia Lee, Alicia Skinner and husband Jason, Stuart Shipp, and Lyndsay Mayfield and husband Sam. She is survived by 15 great grandchildren; Breeanna Harris, Jayden Harris, Corey Skinner, Sam Skinner, Colton Morrow, Chandler Mayfield, Amanda May, John Reeves, Madeline Reeves, Kayelyn Lee, Davis Johnson, Sarah Beth Johnson, Parker Johnson, Ally Johnson, and Conner Johnson. She is survived by one great-great grandchild, Alexis May.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
