Funeral Services for Mrs. Nellie Adams Spikes, 93, of West Monroe, LA will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Peniel Baptist Church in West Monroe with Rev. Eddy Shoemaker and Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Calhoun.
Mrs. Spikes was born February 3, 1917 in Meadville, MS and passed away on August 21, 2010 in West Monroe, LA. She was a member of Peniel Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for over 25 years. Mrs. Spikes is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mattie Adams; husband, L.M. Spikes; daughter, Bettie Saterfiel; son, Robert M. Spikes; great-grandson, Wayne Saterfiel; sisters, Mamie Elizabeth Barre and Ruby Emma Scott; brothers, Oscar William Adams and Bennie L. Adams; and son-in-law, Butch Tolbird.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn S. Tolbird; son-in-law, Herbert Saterfiel; sisters, Gussie Beard of Baton Rouge; brother, John Adair Adams of Beaufort, SC; grandchildren, Dewayne Saterfiel and wife Annette, Charlie Saterfiel and wife Donna, Vicki Beckley and husband Austin, Chris Tolbird and wife Jodie, Amanda Mitchell and husband Jason; Leigh Ann Bielkiewicz and husband Scott, and Mitzi Acree and husband Jamie; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Saterfiel, Charlie Saterfiel, Chris Tolbird, Scott Bielkiewicz, Jamie Acree, and Austin Beckley. Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of the Peniel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, August 23, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideon’s International or the charity of your choice.
