Nancy Frusha of West Monroe, Louisiana was born June 27, 1936, to Clyde L. Evans and Nova Lee Welch Evans in Oakdale Louisiana. She passed away on April 25, 2024, in her home with her son by her side holding her hand.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Clyde L. Evans, Jr.; her loving husband, Carl J. Frusha; and her beloved daughter, Anne Elizabeth “Missy” Frusha.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Van Frusha of West Monroe, LA; granddaughters, Samantha Rose “Sammie” Frusha and Victoria Anne Frusha; and their mother, Susan Ditta Frusha of Monroe, LA; her brother, Jim Evans and wife Jean of Lake Charles, LA; brothers-in-law, Dr. Charles Frusha and wife Louise of Deridder, LA and Ron Frusha of Baton Rouge, LA; sister-in-law, Marilyn Frusha of Fort Worth, TX; nieces, Rachel Evans Paquot (Bruno) of Baton Rouge, LA, Christy Evans Reams Tumlin of Birmingham, AL, Stephanie Watson (John) of McKinney, TX, Stacie Stapleton Choate (Bo) of Blanco TX, Dondra Frusha Zaunbrecher (Jude) of Lake Charles, LA, Paula Frusha O’Neal (David) of Deridder LA, Dana Frusha Daughety of Deridder, LA, Sunshine Frusha of Napoleonville, LA, and Gina Frusha of Baton Rouge, LA; and nephew, Shaun Cooke of Iron Station, NC; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews with another on the way this year.
Nancy was raised in Lake Charles, LA, until her family moved to the tiny community of Gillis. It was at Gillis High School that she fell in love the with school’s handsome athlete, Carl James Frusha. She graduated from Gillis High School in 1954. Nancy and Carl married on January 19, 1956, and were married for fifty years until Carl’s passing in 2006. During their lives together, they lived in Lake Charles, LA, Texarkana, TX and Monroe/West Monroe LA, and lovingly raised their children, Missy and Van. She was a coach’s wife and loved all players. She raised her children, kept her house, and attended all ball games, recitals, school events, etc. all while working full time. She worked in banking, medical administration and bookkeeping for 62 years. She retired at age 80. She leaves behind love for others, a strong work ethic and an adoring family.
Arrangements are made through Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe Louisiana. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday May 3, 2024, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 121 Jackson St. in Monroe, with The Rev. Joseph Martina, Jr., presiding. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, in Monroe, LA. The visitation will be held Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. in the chapel at Mulhearn Funeral Home at 2308 Sterlington Rd. in Monroe, LA.
