Funeral services for Myrtis Mophett Newkirk, 81, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 2, 2015, in the chapel at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Dr. Alan Miller and Dr. Craig West officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Newkirk died Friday, July 31, 2015, at her residence after a brief illness.Mrs. Newkirk was preceded in death by her husband, A.W. “Bill” Newkirk, after 53 years of marriage; grandfather, William Robert Mophett; mother, Anice “Hazel” Taylor Mophett; father, Robert Roy Mophett; sister, Daisy Ida Mophett; and brothers, Aubry Roy Mophett and A.W. Mophett.
