Funeral services for Myrllene Rowlin Boies, age 92, will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service, at the church. Officiating will be Bro. Keith Stephens, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist, and Dr. Alan Miller, pastor of Alto Baptist Church. Service will be under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville, Louisiana. Interment will follow in Prewitt Cemetery, Mangham, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. L. Boies, parents, James Wesley Rowlin and Zula Bradshaw Rowlin, also by her brother J. W. Rowlin, and sister, Ruth R. Cheek and Celeste R. Cooper.
She is survived by her son Jim L. Boies and his wife, Andrea Taylor Boies of Alto, LA; daughter, Rachel Boies Brister and her husband, Lynn W. Brister also of Alto, LA; granddaughter Tracy Boies Chamblee and husband, Michael Chamblee, great-grandsons, Jeremy, Will, Ben, and Noah Chamblee, all of Frisco, TX. She is also survived by her sisters, June Alford of Brandon, MS; Myrna Williams of Archibald, LA; Faye Cooper and husband Alton Cooper of Mangham, LA; sister-in-law Dorothy Rowlin of Lake St. John, LA; many nieces; several nephews; and a loving church community.
She was born in Mississippi and lived in several places while growing up. After she married in 1942 and became a homemaker she resided in Alto her remaining years. She was also a long-standing member of the Order of Eastern Star in Mangham, LA.
