Myrl Sherrill Blakeney

Funeral Services for Myrl Sherrill Blakeney, 75, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 30, 2020, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Bro. Glenn Lenard officiating. Interment will follow in Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Myrl was born on November 23, 1944, in Bastrop, LA and passed away on May 26, 2020, in West Monroe, LA, surrounded by her family. At an early age, she found a love for reading which she was affectionately known for. She was a member of Redeemed at Calvary Ministries Church. Her greatest desire was that all of her children graduate high school and get their education since she was denied hers.

Myrl is preceded in death by her parents, Eva and Earl Sherrill; brother, Earl Sherrill, Jr.; sisters, Eva Louise “Sis” Murphree, Edna Mae Rogers, Virginia Katherine Skains, and Dorothy Jean; sons, Max Raymond Lindsey, Jr., Joe Earl Lindsey, and Daniel Ellis Blakeney; and grandson, Casey Jones.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Dale Blakeney; daughters, Sherrill “Sherrie” Lindsey Jones and husband Dennis Jones, and Shonnette Blakeney; grandchildren, Joseph Lindsey, Allysonn Cheatwood, Lilly Gilmore Yargis, Amanda Wyles, Tristan Chilton, April Lindsey, Garrett Chilton, Cricket Jones, Caitlyn Branham, Darcie Jones, and Payton Jones; six great grandchildren and one on the way.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Lindsey, Garrett Chilton, Mike Piercy, Mike Wyles, Ian Yargas and David Ray.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 29, 2020, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Alara Caring Hospice: Sissy, Kenyetva and Mona for the love and care given to Myrl.
