Funeral Services for Mrs. Willie Mae Simmons Bedenbaugh, 97, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Pastor Richard Turnley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Monroe, LA.Mrs. Bedenbaugh was born and raised in Crowville, LA, where she met and married her husband, Mr. Charles Clay Bedenbaugh on August 8, 1936. Willie Mae and Charles resided in the Crowville and Delhi area of Louisiana until Charles entered the service during WWII. Mrs. Bedenbaugh survived her husband Charles after his death in 2007. When he passed away, the Bedenbaugh’s had been married for 71 years. On May 20, 1943, Mrs. Bedenbaugh’s only child, Charlotte was born. At this time, Charles was serving in Alaska and the Pacific. When Charles returned after the war in 1945, he worked in construction, and the Bedenbaugh’s moved house trailer and residences many times during the next few years until the mid-fifties when she and Charles decided to establish a permanent residence in Monroe. Later she and Charles relocated to their home in West Monroe, LA, where she continued to reside until 2013, when she relocated to the Arbor House in West Monroe, where she was residing until she was hospitalized shortly before her death.Mrs. Bedenbaugh lived a long and fruitful life and was very active in her church, Memorial United Methodist in Monroe, LA where she have been a member since 1952. She served in the XYZ and United Methodist Women Organizations. She also worked in Howard Griffin Land of Toys for several years and later in Camp’s Dress Shop. Mrs. Bedenbaugh also was very active with Charles in the Barak Shrine Temple, the Ladies Oriental Shrine and Eastern Star, along with many activities to raise money for the Shrine Hospitals for Children in Shreveport and other locations throughout the USA.Mrs. Bedenbaugh is survived by her one daughter and husband, Charlotte and Jerry Smith of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; two granddaughters and their husbands Kimberly and Gildardo Carbajal of Dallas, TX and Dana and Ossama Bader of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and her great granddaughters, Omaya, Aysha and Safiya Bader and Karmela Carbajal.Pallbearers will be Charles Simmons, Jerry Blankenship, J. W. Dean, Paul Farr, Jep Butler, Treston Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mickey Cox, Kermit Bearden, Paul Mallett, John Smith, Lester Davis, Walter Pierron and Darren BerryTo celebrate the life of Mrs. Bedenbaugh, the family is requesting donations in lieu of flowers to the Memorial United Methodist Church, 401 Sherrouse Avenue, Monroe, LA 71203.Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
