Vay Brinkley WalkerPrivate family graveside services for “Miss Vay” Walker, 89, of Baton Rouge, LA were held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Baton Rouge, LA with Rev. Mike Ferguson officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LAMrs. Walker died Wednesday March 10, 2016 at the Ouachita Rehab Center in Monroe, LA Mrs. Walker was born on July 31st, 1926 in Guyman, Oklahoma. Her family moved to the Estancia Valley in New Mexico in 1928 because of her frail health. The climate there was wonderful for her and she loved the ranch she grew up on and enjoyed riding horses.Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by three husbands, David Walker, Mac Bruno and the father of her two children, W. J. (Fats) Walock; sister and two brothers along with her parents, Hazel and David Brinkley.She is survived by a daughter, Lauretta Tucker and husband, Barney of Monroe, LA; son, Monty Walock and wife, Kay of Baton Rouge, LA; three granddaughters, Veronica Attaway and husband, Daryl, Debbie McClanahan and husband, David, and Lauren Milliner; six grandsons, Austin Walock and finacee’ Alyssa Adams, Andrew Waqlock and wife, DeAnn, Brandon Walock and wife, Jessica, Jeramie Walock and wife, Stacey, David Shively and wife, Deanna, and Michael Shively and wife, Emily; 14 great grandchildren; Sister, Lottie Brandt of Chandler, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.Miss Vay loved turquoise jewelery, crafts, pretty dishes, and anything the color of green or turquoise. She enjoyed attending her church Lanier Baptist and the Salvation Army League. She lived her life “her way” and always enjoyed doing the things that made her happy.She lived the last fourteen months in Monroe, LA following a stroke, that left her unable to walk and the loss of her sight. She always felt she was still in Baton Rouge, the place she called home and where her heart would always be.Memorials may be made to the Family Promise of Ouachita, Inc.
