Mr. Calhoun was born on November 13, 1936 and passed away on February 10, 2021.
Hugh was a devoted family man who always supported his family in everything they did. He never met a stranger and once he met you, he never forgot you nor the brick he sold you for your home. He enjoyed nothing more than fishing in Cheniere Lake or bailing hay on his farm. He was the funniest storyteller and was so quick-witted. He was a history buff, a bluegrass/country/gospel music fan, and was a sports fanatic, with his favorite teams being LSU and The Boston Red. He was a man true to his word, stressing the importance of honesty by being a genuine role model. He was the first to tell you about his family. He never missed a ballgame or event that his children and grandchildren were in. He was always their biggest cheerleader. Somehow, he put to memory every stat of every performance of their games and loved to tell anyone who would lend him a listening ear. He was so proud of his family and deemed that to be his greatest legacy.
He is preceded in death by his father, Huey Calhoun; mother, Clotea Calhoun; brother, Milton Calhoun; and sister, Pat Tedeton.
Survivors include wife, Grace Rodgers Calhoun; son, Jay Calhoun and wife, Tina; daughter, Connie Calhoun Hennen and husband, Benny; grandchildren, Jayson Calhoun and wife, Meghan, Matt Calhoun, Ben Calhoun, Olivia Hennen, & Landon Hennen; great grandchildren, Mason Calhoun & Christian Calhoun; sisters, Barbara Smith and husband, David, Jo Funderburk and husband, Shelby; brothers, Bill Calhoun and wife, Melinda, Robert Calhoun; and sister-in-law, Gaye Calhoun.
